Attention Filmmakers: NRB’s 2018 Pitch-a-thon is Filling Up Fast! Sign Up Soon!

Attention Filmmakers: NRB’s 2018 Pitch-a-thon is Filling Up Fast! Sign Up Soon!

Pitch-a-thonThe 2018 NRB Pitch-a-thon is filling up fast! Don’t miss out on the distributor to whom you want to pitch your movie, screenplay, or idea!

Those taking pitches are people who can green-light your project, so don’t let this opportunity pass you by.  You can pitch dramas, documentaries, TV series, church media – whatever you want! Finished projects can be pitched, too.

Best of all, it’s free with the purchase of either a full Convention registration or a day pass for Wednesday – the main Film day.  Wednesday is chock full of film and entertainment seminars with heads of industry that will give you the latest cutting edge info on the film, TV, documentary, and digital media industries.  And it concludes with the Pitch-a-thon that night.

The Pitch-a-thon will take place Wednesday, February 28, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention  Center in Nashville, Tennessee – site of Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention.

You can choose four distributors when you sign up to pitch to one-on-one.  Here’s the current list:

  • SONY AFFIRM FILMS (Rich Peluso)
  • TBN / JUCE-TV (Mark McCallie)
  • SONY PROVIDENT (Ben Howard)
  • PURE FLIX ENTERTAINMENT (Rick Bonn)
  • CINEDIGM (Glenn Atamaniuk)
  • MISSION PICTURES (Cindy Bond)
  • BMG / BRIDGESTONE (David Austin)
  • PARABLES TV (Isaac Hernandez)
  • PURE FLIX DIGITAL (Jim Schubert / Patrick McDonough)
  • VISION VIDEO / GATEWAY FILMS (Bill Curtis / Karen Rutt / Matt Oser)
  • OCEAN AVENUE ENTERTAINMENT (Chris Bueno / Denise Bueno / Bob Elder)
  • CROWN ENTERTAINMENT (Brad Mix)
  • VIRGIL FILMS & ENTERTAINMENT (Craig Van Gorp / Joseph Amodei)
  • COBALT PICTURES (Travis Mann)
  • GIVING FILMS / CHRISTIAN CINEMA (Harrison Powell)

During the Pitch-a-thon, each distribution company will be seated at its own table.  You will be assigned a five-minute time period with each of the two distributors you choose when you sign up. You can use each of those five-minute sessions however you want – but we suggest you spend 2-3 minutes pitching your project, and then use the last couple of minutes to get their feedback and build a relationship.  You can use video in your presentation if you desire, but only on your own device – and have it downloaded; do not depend on the hotel’s Wi-Fi.

All participants must arrive by 6 p.m. and take part in the free “How to Pitch” seminar taught by Hollywood veteran Catherine Clinch.

It’s easy to sign up!  Just got to the Convention website, nrbconvention.org, to register for the full convention OR a day pass, and the Pitch-a-thon is part of the online signup process.  If you’ve already registered, simply go back to the site and click on “Modify Registration” – then click through to the Pitch-a-thon sign-up page.

But be sure to sign up soon to get the distributor you think is best for your project. They have limited time slots, and when full, that name will disappear from the signup list.

This could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!

Greg Laurie to Speak During Proclaim 18 Closing Gala

Greg Laurie to Speak During Proclaim 18 Closing Gala

Greg LauriePastor Greg Laurie will speak during the Closing Gala at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention that will be held February 27-March 2, 2018, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Laurie is the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship with campuses in California and Hawaii. Laurie is the featured speaker of the Harvest Crusades – large-scale evangelistic outreaches that have been held throughout the U.S. and in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia since 1990. Laurie’s daily radio program, A New Beginning, is broadcast on more than 800 radio outlets daily across the nation and internationally. He has also authored more than 70 books, including an autobiographical work titled Lost Boy.

More recently, Laurie’s Harvest Ministries partnered with the filmmakers behind Moms’ Night Out and Woodlawn to bring the feature film Steve McQueen: American Icon to the big screen. He also wrote a book on McQueen, in which he traces the wooly geography of the actor’s life, relationships, career, and spiritual journey. Both the book and the film were released last year.

“We are excited to have Greg Laurie close out Proclaim 18, our association’s 75th annual Convention,” said Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, president & CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). “In addition to being a compelling, cutting-edge, and faithful preacher, Greg is a Southern California native who is perfect in transitioning us from this Convention to the next one in Anaheim, where we’ll kick off celebrations for our association’s 75th anniversary year.”

Other speakers at Proclaim 18 include Vice President Mike Pence; ministry leaders Rick Warren, Kay Arthur, David Jeremiah, Luis Palau, and Billy Kim; actors Jim Caviezel and Dennis Quaid, and filmmaker Alex Kendrick; radio talk show hosts Larry Elder, Eric Metaxas, and Dennis Prager; thought leaders Phil Cooke, Ed Stetzer, and Joel C. Rosenberg; and many more.

In addition, musical artists will include MercyMe, Fernando Ortega, and Michael W. Smith. The emcees of the Convention will be twin brothers, authors, and entrepreneurs David and Jason Benham.

Proclaim 18 will take place February 27-March 2, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, while NRB’s award-winning Exposition – featuring around 200 exhibitors – will be open February 28-March 2. The annual Convention is the largest nationally and internationally recognized event dedicated solely to assisting those in the field of Christian communications.

Convention Extras: Film Screenings at Proclaim 18

Convention Extras: Film Screenings at Proclaim 18

Movie ScreeningsFor Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, we’ve brought together dozens of speakers and insightful sessions, nearly 200 exhibitors, and various networking events.

Also part of the schedule are film screenings. This year, there will be six major film screenings taking place at the Convention.

I Can Only Imagine

Tuesday, February 27, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

It’s the song that brings ultimate hope to so many … often in the midst of life’s most challenging moments. Amazingly, the song was written in mere minutes by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. In reality, those lyrics took a lifetime to craft. Directed by the Erwin Brothers (October BabyMoms’ Night Out, and Woodlawn), I Can Only Imagine stars J. Michael Finley, Madeline Carroll, Trace Adkins, Priscilla Shirer, with Cloris Leachman and Dennis Quaid. A gripping reminder of the power of forgiveness, I Can Only Imagine beautifully illustrates that no one is ever too far from God’s love — or from an eternal home in Heaven.

Staines

Wednesday, February 28, 1-3 p.m.

Based on a true story and shot on location in India, Staines stars Stephen Baldwin as Australian missionary Graham Staines, who finds himself the center of an investigation by an ambitious reporter when speculation mounts that he is illegally proselytizing leprosy patients. The film, coming  later this year, beautifully illustrates the age-old struggle between right and wrong, power and truth, and ultimately love and hate. Where the quest for truth – writes the story of love.

One Nation Under God

Wednesday, February 28, 5-7 p.m.

In America today, what are we directed to believe in? What as a society do we trust? This is the first question that gifted student David Gutierrez is asked as he enters his new school — Lee Magnet High. When the lead Presidential candidate comes to speak to the Lee High student body, David seizes the opportunity to address the Senator. “If our founding fathers placed God at the center of our Nation, shouldn’t God be a part of our schools and government today?” The Senator and student’s paths become intertwined after a video is leaked of the encounter. Both struggle to have the faith and courage to stand up for what they truly believe in.

Beautifully Broken

Thursday, March 1, 1-3 p.m.

Beautifully Broken is a riveting true story of three families, seemingly worlds apart, whose paths likely would have never crossed. Each family faces a crisis beyond their control, and are forced to make difficult decisions. Those decisions set in motion a series of events that leads to their lives becoming intertwined in ways they could have never predicted or imagined. Their journeys reveal the divine tapestry of God’s love and guidance, where they learn firsthand the power of forgiveness and reconciliation.

God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness

Thursday, March 1, 8:30-10:30 p.m.

A deadly fire rips through St. James Church, devastating the congregation and Pastor Dave. Adjoining Hadleigh University uses the tragedy to kick the congregation off campus. The escalating controversy creates a dilemma for the small church — can Christians fight for their rights and be the light for Christ at the same time?

Paul, Apostle of Christ

Friday, March 2, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Paul, Apostle of Christ is the story of two men. Luke, as a friend and physician, risks his life every time he ventures into the city of Rome to visit Paul, who is held captive in Nero’s darkest, bleakest prison cell. Before Paul’s death sentence can be enacted, Luke resolves to write another book, one that details the beginnings of “The Way” and the birth of what will come to be known as the church. But Nero is determined to rid Rome of Christians, and does not flinch from executing them in the grisliest ways possible. Bound in chains, Paul’s struggle is internal. He has survived so much — floggings, shipwreck, starvation, stoning, hunger and thirst, cold and exposure — yet as he waits for his appointment with death, he is haunted by the shadows of his past misdeeds. Alone in the dark, he wonders if he has been forgotten … and if he has the strength to finish well. Two men struggle against a determined emperor and the frailties of the human spirit in order to bequeath the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

To participate in the screenings above, you must have a full Convention registration or a day pass for the date of the screening.

If you and your organization are interested in hosting an event, meal function, reception, private movie screening, or concert during Proclaim 18, email convention@nrb.org for additional information. NRB approval of function program and speakers is required.

Insights in Media, Ministry, and More: What You Need and What Proclaim 18 Has!

Insights in Media, Ministry, and More: What You Need and What Proclaim 18 Has!

Sessions at Proclaim 18One of the most important investments you can make in 2018 is to make the most of the information you already have – and fill in whatever gaps exist. Each year, NRB’s International Christian Media Convention delivers a way to do that seamlessly.

Consider the wide array of industry sessions offered at the upcoming Convention – any one of which (if you could find it elsewhere) would cost as much as or more than your entire Convention registration.

At the Digital Media sessions, for example, you’ll learn how to turn Facebook likes into donors, five new ways to use social media to grow, the value of digital engagement, and more.

At the Church Media sessions, you’ll learn how to equip your church media department, how to use media to increase Bible engagement, and how to build and support a volunteer team.

And at the Radio sessions, you’ll learn how research is a vital component for a Christian radio leader’s toolbox, five ways successful stations are growing in revenue, and more.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! There are also film industry sessions, international ministry sessions, and TV industry sessions – each featuring experts in their field.

And that’s not all!

On the floor of the Convention’s massive Exposition, there will also be the Learning Arena showcasing relevant education and training from ministries, product suppliers, and technical experts, among others. Choose what you want to learn about and attend as many learning sessions as you’d like. Get information, advice, and tailored solutions on various topics. Session topics will include “Reaching Christians through Mobile Marketing,” “How to Reach the Next Generation,” “Houses of Worship: Live Streaming 101,” and more.

Furthermore, the upcoming Convention, Proclaim 18, will feature one Super Session each day on broader topics such as online censorship, how to be a faithful Christian while working in the world of secular media, and how Christian media, ministries, and leaders should respond to shifts in culture in order to stay connect to those they are trying to reach.

Throughout the week of Proclaim 18, February 27-March 2, you’ll get inspired by speakers who are considered to be among the most recognized individuals in ministry, leadership, and innovative thinking. Hear from pastors and ministry leaders including Rick Warren, Greg Laurie, Kay Arthur, David Jeremiah, and Billy Kim; thought leaders including Phil Cooke, Ed Stetzer, and Joel C. Rosenberg; radio talk show hosts including Larry Elder, Eric Metaxas, and Dennis Prager; actors Jim Caviezel, Dennis Quaid, Stephen Baldwin, and filmmaker Alex Kendrick; and many more. And you’ll not want to miss Vice President Mike Pence, who is scheduled to speak during Tuesday’s Super Session.

There will be dozens of speakers at the Convention, which will be attended by thousands of Christian ministry and media professionals, and will feature hundreds of organizations, resources, and services.

Over the course of one week, gain the information and inspiration you need to propel your organization and your career in 2018. Register today for Proclaim 18! (Day passes available.)

Tony Perkins to Speak at NRB’s Proclaim 18 Convention in Nashville

Tony Perkins to Speak at NRB’s Proclaim 18 Convention in Nashville

Tony PerkinsFamily Research Council (FRC) president Tony Perkins will speak during the Thursday morning Super Session at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention that will be held February 27-March 2, 2018, in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Super Session will focus on online censorship and feature a panel of speakers including Larry Elder, host of The Larry Elder Show, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List; Dennis Prager, host of The Dennis Prager Show; and FOX News’ Todd Starnes. The session will also highlight Internet Freedom Watch, NRB’s new initiative to counter online censorship. Introductory remarks will be made by Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee.

“We are glad to have Tony Perkins join us at Proclaim 18, our 75th annual Convention, and to have him speak during our session on online censorship,” said Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, president & CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). “He is a tireless advocate for the family, and he brings a unique perspective to public policy discussions as an ordained minister, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a former police officer.”

Perkins is FRC’s fourth and longest serving president, joining the organization in August 2003. In addition, Perkins is the host of the daily, nationally syndicated radio show Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, and author of No Fear: Real Stories of a Courageous New Generation Standing for Truth.

Described as a legislative pioneer by the national media, Perkins has established himself as an innovative pro-life and pro-family policy and political leader since first being elected to office in 1996. Recognized as the leading conservative and pro-life voice in the Louisiana Legislature, Perkins had a significant impact on Louisiana politics as a state representative and as a candidate for the United States Senate in 2002.

Today, he continues to deepen FRC’s influence on Capitol Hill and throughout the country, while also expanding the organization’s reach across the nation by building a major network of pastors and churches, encouraging them to impact the culture by thinking nationally, but acting locally.

Other speakers at Proclaim 18 include Vice President Mike Pence; ministry leaders Rick Warren, Greg Laurie, Kay Arthur, David Jeremiah, Luis Palau, and Billy Kim; actors Jim Caviezel, Dennis Quaid, Stephen Baldwin, and filmmaker Alex Kendrick; radio talk show hosts Larry Elder, Eric Metaxas, and Dennis Prager; thought leaders Phil Cooke, Ed Stetzer, and Joel C. MyPillow Inventor Mike Lindell to Speak at Proclaim 18 Convention in Nashville

MyPillow Inventor Mike Lindell to Speak at Proclaim 18 Convention in Nashville

Mike LindellMyPillow inventor and CEO Mike Lindell will speak at Proclaim 18, the NRB International Christian Media Convention that will be held February 27-March 2, 2018, in Nashville, Tennessee.

“Mike Lindell’s story is more than a rags-to-riches story or a classic example of the American dream-come-true; it’s a testimony of how God can turn a situation around and work through those who turn their lives over to Him,” said Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, president & CEO of NRB. “I am looking forward to interviewing this faithful entrepreneur at our 75th annual Convention, and hearing more about how God is using and blessing him.”

After being fired from his job at a grocery store, Lindell pursued an entrepreneurial path by starting his own carpet cleaning company, which he expanded into a larger business. After that, he went on to run lunch wagons, nightclubs, and small town bars. In 2004, Lindell had a dream about a pillow, which prompted him to invest all his time and resources into developing the world’s most comfortable pillow.

As Lindell struggled to grow his burgeoning pillow enterprise, he also battled with drug addictions. But those addictions came to an end in January 2009 after he prayed and asked God to take away his desire for drugs, promising in return that he would do whatever He wanted him to do. Lindell has been sober ever since that day.

And since then, Lindell has seen amazing success. MyPillow is now a thriving near-billion dollar company that manufactures and sells more than 75,000 MyPillow products every day, has a workforce of 1,500, and has sold more than 25 million pillows worldwide. More importantly, Lindell made good on his promise to God, donating to several groups, including Teen Challenge, The Wounded Warriors, and the Salvation Army. He also formed The Lindell Foundation, which provides worldwide aid to the poor through a unique approach to loving and giving.

In addition, Lindell has turned his attentions to producing Christian-themed films, co-founding LIGHTBEAMedia with actor Stephen Baldwin. Lindell and Baldwin are currently working on a movie called Youth Group, which will be coming out soon.
