Liberty HealthShare to Attend Proclaim 17 as a Gold Level Sponsor

Healthcare sharing ministry promoting patient rights and freedom at NRB International Christian Media Convention

Liberty HealthShareORLANDO, Florida (NRB) –  Liberty HealthShare℠, an Ohio-based healthcare sharing ministry, will sponsor and attend Proclaim 17, the NRB International Christian Media Convention being held February 27–March 2. Throughout the course of the event, Executive Director Dale Bellis will address attendees concerning patient rights and freedom and share the latest information about the healthcare sharing movement.

Bellis, himself a frequent guest on Christian radio programs, states the ministry engages in medical cost sharing because it’s “the right thing to do.” He continues, “We are here because our principles of sharing come from a set of shared ethical and religious beliefs held in common across the spectrum. We bear one another’s burdens. We invest our dollars in the lives and needs of one another. We exist for people of like mind and welcome anyone who agrees with our shared beliefs.” Bellis and Liberty HealthShare are grateful for the opportunity to support the important work of the National Religious Broadcasters.

Liberty HealthShare is a health cost sharing ministry of an existing group (Gospel Light Mennonite Church Medical Aid Plan, Inc.) that has been sharing costs since 1995. Through Liberty HealthShare, health cost sharing is currently being used by thousands of families nationwide as an organized means of sharing medical expenses.

The leadership team of Liberty HealthShare was there when the movement began in the early 1980s, and they have nearly 30 years of experience in facilitating cost-sharing. They now lend their expertise to bring the same cost-sharing methods enjoyed by thousands of Christian families to like-minded individuals everywhere. Through Liberty HealthShare, the opportunity to share medical expenses is open to anyone who subscribes to the ministry’s Shared Beliefs.

WASHINGTON (NRB) – Award-winning Christian musical artists Selah and Laura Story will lead thousands of Christian communicators in worship during the opening and closing sessions of Proclaim 17, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, which will be held February 27-March 2 with the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation as its theme.

The Reformation was launched in 1517 when German theologian Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. During the Opening Session of Proclaim 17 on February 27, the contemporary Christian vocal trio Selah will perform some of Luther’s greatest hymns from their recently released album, Greatest Hymns, Vol. 2.

Laura Story – best known for her songs “Blessings,” “Mighty to Save,” “What a Savior,” and “Indescribable” – will later close out Proclaim 17 on March 2 during the Closing Gala Dinner, which will be headlined by Bible teacher R.C. Sproul and India megachurch pastor P. Satish Kumar.

Other musical guests at Proclaim 17 include singer-songwriters Hannah Kerr and Erskin Anavitarte, who will lead worship during the convention’s Great Commission Summit on February 27, and missionary/songwriter Lindy Conant, who will lead worship on March 1 during the Public Worship Service at which ministry leaders Tony Evans and Nick Hall will preach.

“Thousands of Christian ministry and media professionals will gather for Proclaim 17 to network and learn, and to find resources and inspiration,” said NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson. “The musical guests who will be leading us in worship at the convention will help focus our attention on the One who ultimately guides us, equips us, encourages us, and saves us.”

Public Policy Sessions at Proclaim 17 to Highlight Attacks on Freedoms, Challenges for Christians

WASHINGTON (NRB) – Four public policy sessions will be held on Thursday, March 2, during Proclaim 17, the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Orlando, Florida.

The sessions will cover attacks on religious freedom and other First Amendment freedoms, as well as how to work in the often hostile and unfriendly environments of entertainment and politics as a Christian. In addition, there will be a one-on-one discussion between Dr. James Dobson and Fox News Host and Columnist Todd Starnes.

“It’s a challenging time to be Christian in America,” said NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson. “The public policy sessions at Proclaim 17 will help attendees know more about the battles they’ve read about in the news while getting an intimate look at fellow believers who have had to deal with these attacks as a result of their faith. Session attendees will come away from the convention with a clearer picture of the challenges, how to move forward, and what to expect in the future.”

Assembled for the first session will be former Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran, whose employment was terminated because of his Christian faith and beliefs; Annette Kiehne, Director of Trinity Lutheran Child Learning Center, whose case is pending before the U.S. Supreme Court after her preschool was denied a state playground re-surfacing grant solely because it is run by a church; and Carl and Angel Larsen, Owners and Founders of Telescope Media Group, who are being threatened by their state with severe penalties and jail time if they decline to make wedding films that are inconsistent with their faith. Moderated by David A. Cortman, Senior Counsel and Vice President of U.S. Litigation at Alliance Defending Freedom, the hour-long panel session will highlight the human cost in the struggle for constitutional freedoms in courtrooms across the country.

In the second panel session, moderator Todd Starnes will interview acting and filmmaking couple Kevin and Sam Sorbo, who will talk about politics in entertainment. While Kevin Sorbo is best known for his role as Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, he has also starred in a number of faith-based movies, including the acclaimed Pure Flix film God’s Not Dead, which was dollar-for-dollar the most successful film of 2014. His most recent project is Let There Be Light, which he directed and co-produced with executive producer Sean Hannity, who will also be speaking at Proclaim 17. The upcoming film also stars Sam Sorbo, who co-wrote the film’s script together with Dan Gordon, known for his work on Passenger 57, The Hurricane, and Wyatt Earp.

A third panel, also to be moderated by Starnes, will highlight cultural assaults on the freedom to believe and speak in accordance with faith, and what may lie ahead. During this 45-minute session, Starnes will interview lawyer, nationally syndicated columnist, political commentator, and author David Limbaugh and twin brothers and entrepreneurs David and Jason Benham, whose reality show with HGTV was abruptly cancelled before it was to air because of their commitment to biblical values.

NRB to Bring Film Summit, Speakers, Pitch-a-thon, Screenings to Proclaim 17 in Orlando

WASHINGTON (NRB) – For the third consecutive year, National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) will have at its annual convention the Film & Entertainment Summit, which will feature industry executives covering topics including directing, acting, screenwriting, marketing, and more.

Among the speakers at the March 1 summit will be actor Corbin Bernsen, creative executive DeVon Franklin, media authority Ted Baehr, filmmaker Lionel Chetwynd, film producer Sam Haskell III, film production veteran Michael Scott, and director/showrunner Dave Alan Johnson.

Other film and entertainment industry speakers at the broader, four-day NRB International Christian Media Convention, Proclaim 17, include communications maven Phil Cooke, acting/filmmaking couple Kevin and Sam Sorbo, and Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Executive Producer of the upcoming movie Let There Be Light.

“If you are a Christian working in the film and entertainment industry, or if you’re an aspiring filmmaker, this is the event for you,” said NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson. “Our event offers unique face-to-face networking opportunities, as well as invaluable insights from those who have found much success in Hollywood.”

Also returning this year is the popular NRB Pitch-a-thon, which gives participants a chance to pitch their story, script, or even a finished product to two different distributors. In the three years since NRB began hosting the Pitch-a-thon, a number of scripts have been purchased and a number of participants have received offers for distribution for their films. The Pitch-a-thon is scheduled to take place on February 28, the evening before the Film & Entertainment Summit. All participants must sign up in order participate.

Additionally, Proclaim 17 will feature four film screenings. Among the films being screened are The Case for Christ, a film that draws on the true story of Lee and Leslie Strobel, whose marriage struggled mightily as her growing faith collided with his determined atheism. Lee Strobel, who is among the more than 80 speakers at Proclaim 17, will be present at the screening of The Case for Christ and will offer remarks. Other films include Mully, which depicts the extraordinary rags-to-riches story of Charles Mully, whose meteoric rise from orphaned poverty in Kenya leads him on an unimaginable journey of selflessness; Because of Grácia, a movie about three young people and the choices they make that will change their lives forever; and Let There Be Light, an upcoming faith-based film about a world-famous atheist who finds his purpose and re-imagines his life after a near-death experience.

Proclaim 17 will also have multiple showings of Jesus VR, which depicts the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ through the exciting new format of virtual reality. Jesus VR takes participants on a virtual trip back in time to walk alongside Jesus – experiencing life as His follower, immersed in a 360-degree view of His miracles, teachings, prayers, passion, and glory – closer than ever before.
